Tom McDermott

Tom is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP®) and holds a Series 7 General Securities Representative, Series 66 Uniform Combined State Law, and Life and Health Insurance licenses. He is a member of the Financial Planning Association (FPA).

Tom grew up in the Toms River area and attended Toms River High School East. He went on to earn his Bachelor of Science in Finance, with a minor in Economics, from the Rutgers Business School in New Brunswick. Throughout his time at Rutgers, Tom interned at a financial planning firm, gaining hands-on experience in the field and building a strong foundation for his career. After graduating, he transitioned into a full-time role in financial planning and has been serving clients in that capacity since late 2020. To further his expertise, Tom completed Boston University’s Program in Financial Planning and earned his CFP® designation in August of 2022.

Tom was drawn to Oujo Wealth Strategies because of the firm’s integrated approach to financial and tax planning. The ability to look at a client’s complete financial picture and deliver advice that touches on what matters most to them is aligned directly with his belief that financial planning can have a meaningful and positive impact on people’s lives every single day. That conviction has only deepened throughout his career, as he has had the privilege of helping clients work toward and achieve their most important goals.

When not working, Tom enjoys spending time with his wife Bre, their son Jameson, and their dog Daisy. He also enjoys golfing, staying active playing various sports, and rooting on his favorite sports teams, specifically the Giants, Yankees, and the Rutgers Scarlet Knights.
